Our 100% Certified Organic and Humanely Treated Grass fed beef comes from Tar-Angus cattle, Tar-Angus is a composite made up of the Tarantaise and Angus breeds. Tarantaise cattle have a high butter fat content that increases calf vigor, and the nutrient density of the meat. Tarantaise cattle are nativeto mountainous country, so they enjoy spending their time grazing up and down our native prairie hills. This is a true luxury as the native flora allows the cattle to graze a variety of native grasses that are high in mineral content and allows them to graze herbs such as echinacea. We believe in preserving what is left of the native prarie as there is only 10% left in South Dakota.
Our cattle are never fed grain, as nature intended. This produces a healthier product for the consumer as grass fed beef has been shown to be higher in CLA, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Omega 3's and beta carotene. We have a closed herd, this means that after we purchased our original cows in 2004 we have not purchased any other cows. We raise our own replacement heifers, which insures a clean herd and makes for a more docile family structure with-in the herd. All of the cattle’s feed (alfalfa and grass supplement in the winter) is grown right here on the ranch, in an environmentally responsible fashion, that is also kind to the native animals. - 100% USDA Organic Beef
